Bw Just A Ruger Wins Third Consecutive Derby on Monday

BLACKFOOT, ID–SEPTEMBER 2, 2024–Bw Just A Ruger raced to her third consecutive stakes (not black type) win on Monday when she defeated Rtm My Turn by a nose in the $7,500 Idaho Bred Quarter Horse Derby at the Blackfoot Fair Grounds.

In a late surge under jockey Jesus Flores, Bw Just A Ruger completed the 350 yards in 17.920 seconds, equaling a 95-speed index into a 12 mph crosswind. Trainer Glen Jamison saddled the daughter of Justified to her sixth win in 12 starts.

Maire Baltodano owns the bay filly out of Bw Robins Lark by Ettaduino. Bw Just A Ruger earned $4,500 today to increase her earnings to $26,865. Thomas Boyd and Betty Weeks are the breeders.

Bw Just A Ruger won the Mixed Breed Derby at Cassia County Fair and the Oneida County Mixed Breed Derby last month.

Runner-up Rtm My Turn earned $1,875 for second. Mark Hanson trains the son of four-time world champion sire FDD Dynasty for RTM Stables LLC. Never Marin, had the riding call on the Idaho bred out of Rtm Say Your Prayers by Chickie Cherry Cola. Susan Hanson is the breeder.

Dave Merritt and Kim Newman's M E Ettago Relent was two lengths off the leaders to earn $1,125 for third. Rodolfo Arvizu had the riding call aboard the Hes Relentless filly for trainer Jarrett Mills. The Idaho homebred, from the Favorite Cartel mare Ettago This, has earned $42,424 in 20 career starts.
