Bw Just A Ruger Nods To Jack Funk Sprint Stakes Victory

Bw Just A Ruger narrowly prevailed in the $4,000 Jack Funk Sprint Stakes at Cassia County Fair on Friday afternoon.

Ridden by Jesus Flores, Bw Just A Ruger broke on top and maintained a narrow advantage throughout the 250-yard sprint before getting the nod by a neck over Sheknowsshesmokn. The five-year-old mare stopped the clock in :13.208 for a 99 speed index.

Bw Just A Ruger is owned by Maria Baltodano and trained by Glen Jamison. Bred by Thomas Boyd and Betty Weeks, she is sired by Justified and out of the Ettaduino mare Bw Robins Lark.

The Idaho-bred mare now has a record of 29-10-8-6 with earnings of $46,551. Her previous stakes success includes a victory in the Oneida County Mixed Breed Derby.

Sheknowsshesmokn finished a close second under Jose Arriola-Serrano. After breaking third, the four-year-old filly made up ground and just missed the victory, finishing a neck behind the winner in :13.246 for a 98 speed index.

Owned by Edward Jamison and trained by Glen Jamison, Sheknowsshesmokn was bred by Edward Jamison. She is sired by Daguerre and out of the Jumpn mare Smokn Mirrors.

Sheknowsshesmokn now holds a record of 20-4-8-5 with earnings of $32,489. She finished second in the Five Livestock Company/Rod Mills Memorial Derby and has third-place finishes in the Idaho Cup Derby and Oneida County Futurity.

Brujo Spirit completed the order of finish in third under Kevin Ramos after his saddle slipped during the race. The five-year-old gelding finished in :15.039.
