Bg Winning Legacy Wouldn't Be Denied For The Win In The Rocky Mountain Classic P&A Futurity

MALAD, ID–AUGUST 3, 2024—The Fastest qualifier from the trials, Bg Winning Legacy, returns for another victory on Saturday in the $11,600 Rocky Mountain Classic Paint & Appaloosa Futurity (not black type) finals at Oneida County Fair.

Bg Winning Legacy wouldn't be denied, defeating his stablemate and second fastest qualifier from the trials, Bg Vroom Vroom Broom, by 2 1/2-lengths with an eight mph crosswind. Trainer Derric Grant named Eric Ayala, rider of Bg Winning Legacy, after Raphael Romero, who qualified both horses in the trials, chose Bg Vroom Vroom Broom in the finals.

Favored to win, Bg Winning Legacy led the field from wire-to-wire clocking a 93 speed index in :15.597 seconds. The son of Winners Version's 300-yard effort paid $4.20 to win.

Bg Vroom Vroom Broom broke alert and kept his second-place position from the gate, crossing the wire 1 1/4-lengths ahead of Kj Royal Blue, piloted by Jesus Flores for third.

Becky Grant bred the first and second-place Appaloosa horses, while Bryan Grant owns them. Bg Legacy Winner is out of Cmb A Final Legacy by Geneo JJ, and Bg Vroom Vroom Broom's dam is Brooms Cash by Takin The Cash.

The two rivals go back and forth on winning stakes races against each other. Bg Winning Legacy, who has three wins and one second from four starts, won the Paint & Appy Overnight Futurity at Pocatello Downs and was second in the Harvest Cup P&A Futurity at Jerome County Fair.

Bg Vroom Vroom Broom has two wins and one second from three starts. He defeated Bg Winning Legacy in the Harvest Cup P&A Futurity and was second to him in the Paint & Appy Overnight Futurity.

After cashing in the $4,640 winner's share of today's purse, Bg Winning Legacy has $12,390 in career earnings. Bryan Grant trained Bg Vroom Vroom Broom. The son of The Louisiana Cartel now has $9,234 in the bank.

Trainer Glen Jamison saddled third-place finisher Kj Royal Blue for owners-breeders Kent and Judy Taylor. The son of Blue Oyster Cult has yet to break his maiden from four starts and has $3,492 in the bank. He is out of Kj Rosie by Geneo JJ.

Ivory Moon, Gw Smokin Ivory, Ivoryquest, and Kj With Honors round out the order of finish. Mas Dinero was scratched.
