Bg Follow My Lead Wires the Field in $12,500 Rocky Mountain Classic Futurity

MALAD, ID–JULY 26, 2025– Bg Follow My Lead never looked back in Saturday’s $12,500 Rocky Mountain Classic Futurity (not black type) at the Oneida County Fair, leading at every call to break his maiden in style.
The 2-year-old Paint gelding covered 300 yards in 16.004 seconds over a fast track, earning a 78 speed index while racing with a 7-mph crosswind. The win earned $6,250 for owner Bryan Grant and paid $5.40 on a $2.00 wager.
Ridden by Eric Ayala, the Oklahoma-bred gelding broke sharply from post three and quickly opened up a lead, holding off all challengers to prevail by a half-length.
Trained by Darric Grant, Bg Follow My Lead was making his second start after finishing second in the Harvest Cup P&A Futurity on June 4 at Jerome County Fair. The son of Capo de Capi was bred by Mike and Jay Lynn Hester out of Skip Away Shadow, by Judys Lineage.
Nacho Average Paint, a gray colt foaled in Idaho, turned in another consistent performance to finish second under Jose Antonio Figueroa. Bred and owned by Double X Bar Horses and trained by Treece Figueroa, he entered the Rocky Mountain Classic off a third-place finish in the Harvest Cup P&A Futurity on June 4 at Jerome County Fair.
Saturday’s runner-up finish, 1/2 length behind the winner, added $2,750 to his bankroll, increasing his total earnings to $6,397 from 3 starts Nacho Average Paint is by Barracuda and out of Gray Horse Lass, by Gray Horse Run.
Chemo Queen, a chestnut Appaloosa filly, held steady in third after breaking near the leaders. Ridden by Angel Acevedo Armenta for trainer Don Atwood, she added $1,500 to her earnings for owner-breeder Barbara Atwood. Chemo Queen is by Ivory King out of Una Mas, by Flying T Kingofkings.
Rounding out the order of finish were Dutch Cartel in fourth, Bg Black Friday in fifth, and My Cajun Queen in sixth. Margins were ½, ¾, neck, head, and neck.
