BOSSIER CITY, LA–MARCH 1, 2025–Let go at odds of 24-1, Angeles Estrellita broke her maiden while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Louisiana Downs Maiden Classic (not black type) on Saturday at Louisiana Downs.

The ten fastest qualifiers will return to the northwest Louisiana racetrack on Saturday, March 22nd to vie for the winner's share of $150,000-est. Purse going a distance of 350 yards.

Making her third career start, Angeles Estrellita cruised home under jockey Hugo Gutierrez in 17.753 seconds, equaling a 97-speed index into an 8 mph crosswind to establish the fastest time of the dam. The brown filly by champion EC Jet One earned $3,000 of the $5,000 trial purse for the effort.

Trainer Salvador Flores trains the Georgia-bred 3-year-old for owner Luis Fernando Angeles. Miguel Angeles bred Angeles Estrellita from the This Snow Is Royal mare This Bragg Is Royal.

Money Cristo drifted in under jockey Federico Vargas in the second trial while posting a 1-1/2 length victory for owner Carlos Hernandez Velasquez. The son of leading sire Favorite Cartel posted the second fastest time of 17.757 seconds, a 96-speed index.

Braulio Hernandez trains the $65,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate bred in Oklahoma by Buck Way Ranch LLC. Out of the Okey Dokey Dale mare This Candys Okay, Monty Cristo has scored his first win in six career starts.
