$135,000 Heritage Place Yearling Graduate Sets Top Mark In Gillespie County Fair Futurity Trials
FREDRICKSBURG, TX—AUGUST 10, 2024—Survived, a $135,000 Heritage Place September Sale graduate, raced to his second win in five starts this afternoon while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Gillespie County Fair Futurity at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds.
The 10 fastest qualifiers, from eight trials contested, will return to the Gillespie County Fairgrounds on Sunday, August 25, to vie for the winner's share of a $219,500 purse going 350 yards.
Survived got a perfect trip under jockey Nestor Duran to put the fastest time of 17.634 seconds, a 94-speed index, into a 5 mph crosswind. The son of leading sire Favorite Cartel posted a two-length victory to get her second win in five starts. She also won her Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity trial at Remington Park in May.
Trainer Juan Diaz, Jr. saddled the California-bred gelding for owner CH Horse Racing LLC. Bred by Steve D. Burns, DVM from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Crystal, Survived has earned $16,467.
