Dnc Dynasty Wins $22,100 Bitterroot Derby With Commanding Gate-to-Wire Effort

POCATELLO, ID—JULY 20, 2025—Dnc Dynasty left no doubt about his dominance in the $22,100 Bitterroot Derby on Sunday at Pocatello Downs, delivering a front-running performance to win the 400-yard event for 3-year-old Quarter Horses sired by participating stallions.

The sorrel gelding surged from the gate under jockey Jose Olivo and maintained a clear lead throughout, hitting the wire 1½ lengths in front with a final time of 19.974 seconds and a 95 speed index over a fast track. The victory came under clear skies with a 3-mph crosswind and temperatures in the high 80s.

Bred in Utah by W3 Farms LLC, Dnc Dynasty is a son of multiple stakes sire Duponte out of the FDD Dynasty mare Dinastia Rose. He races for his breeder, W3 Farms, and is trained by Sergio Canales.

The win marked the fifth of his 11-race career and brought his lifetime earnings to $36,173. Dnc Dynasty entered the finals as the second-fastest qualifier from the June 29 trials and capitalized on his inside draw with a flawless break and sustained drive to the finish.

Runner-up honors went to M E Closing Time, a bay filly by champion Ec Jet One out of Kool Sweet Jess, by One Sweet Jess. Owned and bred in Idaho by David Merritt and Kim Newman, she closed steadily in the lane to secure second under jockey Eric Ayala for trainer Jarrett Mills. The multiple stakes-placed filly's effort earned $4,420, pushing her career earnings to $28,767 from 17 starts, which include two wins and six seconds.

Finishing third was race favorite Luv Ya, a bay filly by multiple stakes sire Docs Best Card out of Shi D Anna, by Proudest Effort. Bred by Allreds Horse Haven in Idaho and racing for Keller Livestock and Cody Allred, Luv Ya was trained by Sergio Canales and ridden by Jesus Canales. She finished a nose behind the runner-up and earned $2,210, raising her earnings total to $49,339 from 10 starts with six victories.

Dnc Dynasty returned $14.60 to win, $15.80 to place, and $5.00 to show. M E Closing Time paid $4.00 to place and $3.00 to show, while Luv Ya returned $3.00 to show.

Following the top three finishers were Quick As Jess in fourth, Notin Missing Here fifth, Soren Knud sixth, Cosmic Marfa seventh (after a disqualification from second), Heza Flashy Eagle eighth, Idaho Jess ninth, and Js Jess One tenth.
