The Texas Horse Industry has raised more than $16,480 to assist Elida and Ignacio Bustamante following a devastating barn fire.

Through Sam Houston Race Park and Retama Park’s “Ring the Bell” campaign, a combined $11,480 was raised to support the family, while an additional $5,000-plus was contributed through online donations.

The fundraising effort brought together members of the Texas racing and horse community to help the Bustamante family rebuild and recover following the loss.

Texas Horse Industry officials expressed their appreciation to everyone who donated, participated in the “Ring the Bell” campaign, shared the fundraiser or encouraged others to contribute.

The effort reflects the industry’s continued commitment to supporting its members during times of need.

Texas Horse Racing Community Rallies Behind Bustamante Family Following Devastating Barn Fire

The Texas horse racing community is rallying around the Bustamante family following a devastating barn fire that destroyed their horse training facility, claiming horses, equipment, and the family’s livelihood.

According to a fundraising announcement released this week, the Floresville-based family has spent more than two decades dedicated to the Texas horse racing and training industry. The fire resulted in catastrophic losses, leaving the family facing the difficult task of rebuilding both their operation and their future.

Industry organizations, racetracks, and horsemen across Texas are now encouraging the racing community to come together in support of Elida and Ignacio Bustamante during the recovery effort.
