Sweetwater Downs Futurity Trials Rescheduled for September 11

The Sweetwater Downs Open Futurity trials have been rescheduled for Friday, September 11, after inclement weather forced the cancellation of all but one race on the track’s August 29 program.

Entries for the rescheduled trials will be taken Friday, September 4, with a new draw to be conducted. Entries will be limited to horses that were originally entered and drawn into the August 29 trials.

The August 29 card was scheduled to feature 13 trials for the $100,000-added Sweetwater Downs Open Futurity, with Races 2 through 14 set to determine the finalists for the track’s major 2-year-old event.

Only the opening race was completed before the remainder of the program was canceled as showers and thunderstorms moved through the Rock Springs area.

The rescheduled Sweetwater Downs Open Futurity trials will now be contested September 11 following the re-entry and re-draw.
