More than $674,000 was wagered on six Quarter Horse stakes during Indiana Champions Day, October 24 at Horseshoe Indianapolis, adding a significant betting component to the richest racing program in the track’s history.

The results capped a milestone year for the track’s dedicated Quarter Horse programs. Three of its six all-Quarter Horse cards exceeded $1 million in wagering during 2026, the first time that threshold has been reached on three such programs in one season, according to postrace reporting by Tammy Knox.

Saturday’s complete 13-race Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse program generated more than $3 million in wagering, establishing an Indiana Champions Day record. On-track wagering also reached an event record of $111,709, with attendance reported at 2,232. The combined program offered more than $1.6 million in purses.

The separate Quarter Horse figures provide a clearer measure of wagering activity for the breed than the mixed-card total alone. Together with the three-million-dollar Quarter Horse programs, they give Indiana’s racing industry another benchmark as it evaluates the development of its racing and breeding programs.

Homebred success was prominent Saturday. Keep On Rollin 123, owned by breeder Whiting Ranch and Raymond Whitmire, extended his winning streak to five in the $386,000 Miss Roxie Little Futurity (RG3). The son of Flying Cowboy 123 was one of four Quarter Horse winners on the afternoon for trainer Ricardo Martinez.

“You have to raise a lot of them before you get one like him,” Dr. Hadley Whiting said following the victory.

Another Flying Cowboy 123 homebred, TW Streakin Cowboy, won the QHRAI Derby for Tom and Tammy Wylie and trainer Natasha Perez. The victory improved his lifetime record to six wins from nine starts.

The wagering milestones and homebred performances offer encouraging measures for Indiana’s program. Determining how broadly those gains extend will require comparisons of field sizes, participating breeders and owners, and purse distribution alongside year-to-year wagering totals.
