StallioneSearch.com presents episode 85 of the QH Racing Talk-Weekly podcast, featuring longtime horseman Steve Rothblum’s firsthand account of the legendary 1974 match race in Mexico City between AQHA Hall of Fame member Beduino and AQHA Racing Champion Come Six.
Asked by Come Six’s trainer, Bubba Werner, to accompany the horse to Mexico City, Rothblum shares an inside look at the buildup to the race and the circumstances surrounding the historic matchup. The race took place before Beduino, a Thoroughbred, moved to California to begin his Hall of Fame stud career at Vessels Stallion Farm.
Footage of the match race, held 52 years ago, is available on YouTube with Spanish commentary.
Also in this episode, StallioneSearch’s Greg Thompson joins racing analyst Yancye Guymon to discuss the top contenders in the upcoming Texas Classic Futurity (G1), Texas Classic Derby (G1) and Texas Classic Oaks (G2) trials at Lone Star Park.
