QH Racing Talk Weekly - Ep. 82: Featuring Jolene Urschel

By StallioneSearch

DALLAS, TX—October 8, 2026

Two-time All American Futurity (G1) winning co-owner Jolene Urschel of Canadian, Texas, joins Greg Thompson on the QH Racing Talk Weekly podcast to revisit a remarkable run of classic victories that culminated in the Triple Crown.

Alongside her late husband, Dan, Urschel helped assemble a team whose success at Ruidoso Downs began with Pie In The Sky’s upset victory in the 1979 All American Futurity (G1). The following year, the Urschel-owned Mighty Deck Three won the Rainbow Futurity (G1) before narrowly finishing second to Higheasterjet in the 1980 All American Futurity (G1).

The family’s greatest achievement came in 1981 with AQHA World Champion Special Effort, who swept the Kansas Futurity (G1), Rainbow Futurity (G1) and All American Futurity (G1) to capture the Ruidoso Two-Year-Old Triple Crown.

Racing analyst Yancye Guymon also joins Thompson to preview this weekend’s Robert L. Boniface Invitational (G1), Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) and several other graded stakes.
