New Mexico State Fair Futurity Trials Canceled At Albuquerque

According to Equibase, Friday's entire 12-race program at The Downs at Albuquerque, including the trials for the New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity (RG2), was canceled because of track conditions.

The program was set for 12 trials at 400 yards for registered New Mexico-bred 2-year-old Quarter Horses remaining eligible to the New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity. Each trial carried a $10,000 purse.

The New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity is scheduled to be contested Sunday, October 11, at The Downs at Albuquerque. The RG2 final carries a $500,000-added purse with an estimated gross purse of $1.2 million.

The Downs at Albuquerque is scheduled to host trials Saturday for the $425,000-est. New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Derby. Those 400-yard trials are for registered New Mexico-bred 3-year-olds, with the final also scheduled for October 11.
