Global Gaming Solutions Completes Sweetwater Downs, Horse Palace Acquisition

Global Gaming Solutions has completed its acquisition of Wyoming Horse Racing, bringing Sweetwater Downs and 13 Horse Palace gaming and off-track wagering locations into the Chickasaw Nation-owned company’s racing portfolio.

The company announced Tuesday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Global Gaming WY LLC, acquired all membership interests in Wyoming Funding LLC, doing business as Wyoming Horse Racing. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquired operations include more than 1,500 historical horse racing machines across Wyoming and live racing at Sweetwater Downs in Rock Springs.

The closing follows the Wyoming Gaming Commission’s October 16 approval of the transfer of Wyoming Horse Racing’s live-event and simulcasting permits. At that meeting, company representatives said the transaction was expected to close the following week, with the permit transfer becoming effective upon closing.

Global Gaming Solutions already owns and operates Remington Park in Oklahoma City and Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. The acquisition expands its racing and gaming operations into Wyoming.

“We look forward to growing relationships with the people in each of those communities for years to come,” Global Gaming Solutions President and CEO Skip Seeley said in the closing announcement.

The seller was a joint venture between Pacesetter Racing and Gaming LLC and an affiliate of Sculptor Real Estate.

Sweetwater Downs concluded its 18-day Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse meet September 27, distributing more than $3.5 million in purses. During the permit-transfer proceedings, Seeley expressed the company’s intention to work with Wyoming horsemen and regulators to support a sustainable racing program.

The Wyoming Gaming Commission’s next scheduled meeting is November 19–20, with the industry awaiting assignment of next season’s racing dates.
