Eureka Downs Releases Condition Book for Six-Day 2026 Fall Meet

The condition book is now available for Eureka Downs’ six-day live racing meet, scheduled for three consecutive weekends this fall.

The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has approved racing on October 17–18, October 24–25 and October 31–November 1. The schedule was adjusted following a reallocation of state funds.

Two stakes races for Quarter Horses and Paints & Appaloosas will be offered during the meet:
October 24: $50,000-guaranteed Paint By Numbers Stakes
October 31: $75,000-guaranteed Paul and Virginia Treadwell Stakes

The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission is responsible for licensing and regulating pari-mutuel racing in Kansas. Occupational and concessionaire licensing information and applications are available through the Commission’s pari-mutuel racing page.

Kansas Quarter Horse Racing Association President Randy Eck also clarified how Kansas Bred Development Fund purse supplements will be distributed during the meet.

According to Eck, KBDF funds will first be used as necessary to make the purses listed for Kansas-bred restricted races comparable to those offered for non-restricted races. The remaining supplement funds will be distributed after the meet according to the performance of Kansas-bred horses under a 50-25-15-7-3 points system.

Eck emphasized that KBDF purse supplements have not been eliminated. Instead, the Commission eliminated the practice of advertising a predetermined KBDF supplement for each individual race.

Because Eureka Downs will conduct only six days of racing and does not have recent participation figures for Kansas-bred horses, officials determined there was no reliable way to assign supplements to individual races in advance while ensuring the entire available fund would be distributed.

Under the points system, Kansas-bred horses may earn KBDF money while competing in either restricted or non-restricted races. Once the meet concludes and the total available funds and points earned are known, the remaining supplement pool will be divided according to actual on-track performance.

The system applies equally across all participating breeds. A point earned by a Kansas-bred Quarter Horse will carry the same value as a point earned by a Kansas-bred Thoroughbred or Paint.

Eck said the program is intended to demonstrate the value of owning and breeding Kansas-bred racehorses while making the available funds accessible to a broader group of participants.
