TULAROSA, NM–APRIL 3, 2026–B Cause Im A Hero is beginning to make his mark at stud, siring multiple stakes horses from limited starters. He stands at Anderson Ranch, LLC in Tularosa, New Mexico, for a $3,500 fee.
His first foals of racing age are now beginning to reach the track, and the early results have been encouraging. From only six starters, five are already winners, including recent trial winner MW Bcause Im Alive.
MW Bcause Im Alive won his trial to the Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity (G1) on March 5 with the second-fastest qualifying time, then went on to become a finalist in the March 21 final.
Owned by (Nancy Wells, Brittney Smith, Antoinette Gonzeles), MW Bcause Im Alive is trained by James J. Gonzales II and was ridden by Christian Cardenas. Bred by James and Wendy Howard, he is out of the CRM Livewire mare Pistol Grippin Gal.
B Cause Im A Hero’s top money earner to date is MW Bcause Im First SI 95 ($291,093), who placed second in the New Mexico State Fair Futurity-G2. The 2023 filly earned the honors of last year's NMHBA champion two-year-old filly.
From a limited number of starters, B Cause Im A Hero’s foals have already shown promise. The multiple stakes sire is averaging nearly $80,000 in earnings per starter. He ended 2025 as the nation's No. 1 leading sire by average earnings per starter.
Bred by the Homer A. Hill Estate, B Cause Im A Hero is owned by Nancy Wells and Larry “Kevin” Marcum. The partners purchased him for $65,000 at the 2019 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, drawn to his physical presence and encouraged by a strong endorsement from longtime friend and legendary horseman Jack Brooks, who had trained many standouts from the colt’s female family.
On the track, B Cause Im A Hero compiled a solid résumé while competing against elite company. He earned $197,555 and recorded a Grade 1 placing during a career that showed both talent and durability.
He made his debut at Remington Park under trainer Clint Crawford and quickly showed ability. He won his Remington Park Futurity trial and later became a finalist in the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile. At Ruidoso Downs, he qualified for the $1 million Rainbow Futurity (G1), a powerhouse field that included world champions Whistle Stop Cafe, Empressum, and top runner Cyber Monday.
At 3, he continued to hold his own at a high level, qualifying to the $355,800 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby (RG2) and the $100,000 Ruidoso Invitational Stakes. In his final career start, he turned in one of his best efforts when he finished second to world champion Empressum in the $393,416 Texas Classic Derby (G1).
He retired with nine wins or placings from 14 starts and began his stud career in 2022.
After leaving the racetrack, B Cause Im A Hero was transitioned into a second career in the halter ring, a move that reflected his owners’ roots in the discipline and their belief in the horse’s versatility. The former racehorse and breeding stallion adapted to an entirely different setting, handling everything from long waits at qualifying shows to the pressure of competing on the sport’s biggest stage.
Though the move was unconventional, a breeding stallion in the performance ring, he proved himself again. B Cause Im A Hero entered a class designed to identify individuals that combine ideal conformation with the ability to excel in performance events. B Cause Im A Hero won third at AQHA World Show two years in a row, earning the bronze globe.
The accomplishment marked a major milestone for the stallion and a return to familiar territory for Wells and Marcum of Paoli, Oklahoma. It also underscored both his adaptability and the enduring versatility of the American Quarter Horse.
