AURORA, CO—SEPTEMBER 26, 2025—Trials for the $68,000-est. Lucille Rowe Derby was contested Friday at Arapahoe Park, with three divisions run at 350 yards for accredited Colorado-bred 3-year-olds.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return for the final on Sunday, October 12, with the purse set at $68,000-est.

Paramounte Wagon Jr turned in the co-fastest qualifying time of the afternoon in the opening trial, stopping the clock in 17.831 seconds, a 96 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind, under jockey Jose Juan Olivo. The black gelding drifted out but held gamely to the wire, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of Chico Fabuloso.

Bred in Colorado by Rivera Quarter Horse Racing, Paramounte Wagon Jr is owned by Rivera Quarter Horse Racing Inc. and trained by Alexander Orozco. The son of Paramounte is out of Jdbs Dream N Paint, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon .

Matching that mark in the second trial was Sheza Fearless Eagle, who drew away to win impressively by three lengths in 17.831 seconds. The sorrel filly, ridden by Mauro Jesus Rodriguez, was much the best for owner Jill Cook and trainer Fernando Ivan Manriquez.

Bred in Colorado by Vaughn M. and Jill Cook, Sheza Fearless Eagle is by multiple stakes sire One Fabulous Eagle and out of Ima Fearless Fire, a daughter of Tres Seis. She was a $16,000 16,000repurchase at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
