Fabulous Casina Scores Second Consecutive Stakes Victory in the $58,500 TQHA Sale Sophomore Stakes

SELMA, TX–JULY 25, 2025–Fabulous Casina delivered a dominant performance in Friday’s $58,500 TQHA Sale Sophomore Stakes at Retama Park.

The daughter of One Fabulous Eagle captured the 400-yard stakes for 3-year-olds with a final time of 20.186 seconds and a 95 speed index. Facing a 10 mph headwind on a fast track, the filly surged clear to win by one and one-half lengths under jockey Froylan Ramirez. The victory earned her connections $35,100.

This win marked her fourth from five starts in 2025 and her second consecutive stakes victory, having also captured the La Villita Stakes in June. Her only loss this year came with a fourth-place finish in the John Buchanan Memorial Stakes. Fabulous Casina’s career earnings now stand at $95,043 from ten starts.

The bay filly was bred in Texas by Bobby Myers out of Bm Casina Royale, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Trained by Brittany Tellez and owned by Thomas Tiller, Fabulous Casina was purchased for $14,000 at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale.

Apollitical Lelo finished second after a game effort. Luis Ruiz had the riding call. Apollitical Lelo, who covered the distance in 20.435 seconds with an 89 speed index, earned $11,700. The bay colt was a $20,000 repurchase at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale and now has $27,370 in earnings from three career starts.

The son of Apollitical Spirit is out of Cosmo Lela, by Cosmograph. Bred in Texas by Jose E. Cantu Jr., Apollitical Lelo races for his breeder and is trained by Juan Cantu.

Celebratingtheeagle, a consistent stakes competitor, crossed the wire in third. With Raul Hernandez Jr. in the saddle, she finished in 20.501 seconds with an 87 speed index and picked up $6,435, bringing her earnings to $86,655.

The sorrel filly by This Is an Eagle earned her third black-type placing of the year, adding to her second-place finish in the La Villita Stakes and third in the Old South Derby. Celebratingtheeagle was a $29,000 purchase at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale. She is out of Zoomin N Celebrating, by Azoom. Bred in Texas by Debbie Eller, she is owned by Jesus Molina and trained by Janessa Muniz.

The remainder of the field included The Leaders an Eagle in fourth with a time of 20.571 seconds and an 85 speed index, followed by Enshilada in fifth at 20.618 seconds and an 84 speed index. Coronita Stone was scratched from the race.
