ATLOONA, IA–August 13, 2025–Saturday evening, August 16th, Prairie Meadows will light up with a trio of stakes races headlining the card. Post time for the first stakes event is set for approximately 6:00 p.m., beginning a night of speed, talent, and championship implications.

The opening stakes, the (G3) $38,148 Cox Ranch Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge Finals, will feature a field of eight fillies and mares sprinting 400 yards. The winner not only secures the winner’s share of the purse but also earns a berth into the Cox Ranch Distaff Challenge Championship at Albuquerque Downs on October 18, 2025.

Leading the charge is Foxy Cowgirl (5-2), fresh off her powerful 1¼-length victory in the (G3) Cox Ranch Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge Stakes on July 24 for owners CLC Partners. The four-year-old daughter of Flying Cowboy 123, out of Foxy Millie by Valiant Hero, has six wins and career earnings of $168,203. Trained by Edward Ross Hardy and bred in Iowa by Christine A. Hovey, she will break from post three with Angel O. Ramirez aboard.

Looking for revenge is Sendmecandyandarose, runner-up to Foxy Cowgirl in their last encounter. The Kvn Corona mare, out of Send Me This Wagon, races for Buckway Ranch, LLC, and Tebow Racing. She enters with three wins and $62,636 in the bank. Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill sends her from the rail, along with two stablemates—Miss Kt Perry, the only three-year-old in the field (post six, Cristian R. Esqueda), and Apollitical Sign (post seven).

In the second feature, the $70,125 John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge, ten talented two-year-olds will dash 350 yards for the winner’s share and a spot in the John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship at Albuquerque Downs in October.

Trial winner and second-fastest qualifier Iza Good Girl (3-1) headlines the field. The Kvn Corona filly, out of Iza Doll Face by Mr Jess Perry, was bred and owned by Bradbury Racing and John D. Hammes, who also trains her. She will start from the rail with Alfredo Triana Jr. in the saddle.

Her primary rival, The Cowboy Chick (7-2), also exits a strong trial effort behind Iza Good Girl. The daughter of Flying Cowboy 123, out of Seis the Royal Cash by Tres Seis, is trained by Jason Olmstead for owner/breeder Brenda Reiswig. Regular rider Ramiro H. Garcia has the call.

This Juvenile Challenge Final features two powerhouse barns—Hammes with three qualifiers and Olmstead with four—setting up a tactical showdown among some of the fastest young talent on the grounds.

Following these two stakes, the evening continues with the $72,800 Iowa Stallion QH Futurity, covered in the racing previews.

The Canterbury Park Races can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
