Im A Pretty Mess Holds On To Win $32,538 Cox Ranch Distaff Challenge

Im A Pretty Mess held off a late charge from Dynastys Girl to capture the $32,538 Cox Ranch Distaff Challenge Stakes (G3) on Saturday evening at Lone Star Park.
Ridden by J.R. Ramirez Jr., Im A Pretty Mess took the early advantage and held on by a head in the 400-yard event. The 3-year-old filly stopped the clock in :19.940, earning an 86 speed index over a fast track.
Owned by SLC Racing LLC and trained by Shae Cox, Im A Pretty Mess was bred by Joshua Henderson and sold for $24,000 at the LQHBA Yearling Sale. She is by champion Tarzanito, out of the One Famous Eagle mare Eagle Diva.
Eagle Diva is a half-sister to champion Jess Walking Thru ($447,266), winner of the Dash For Cash Futurity (G1), and champion Sass Me Blue ($296,378), winner of the Mildred Vessels Handicap (G1). Im A Pretty Mess' second dam is AQHA Dam of Distinction Jess Sass Me ($110,503).
Im A Pretty Mess entered Saturday's race off a runner-up finish in the Retama Park Championship Challenge Stakes (G3). The $15,618 winner's share improved her record to three wins, one second and one third from seven starts and boosted her earnings to $51,122.
Dynastys Girl closed late to finish second under Ruben Castro for owner and trainer Samuel Mendoza. Bred by Regina Laymon, the 3-year-old filly is by FDD Dynasty, out of the Pretty Boy Perry mare Pretty Girl Kate. She now has a record of one win, three seconds and two thirds from nine starts, with earnings of $39,906.
Mitoles Princess crossed the wire third under Claudio Aguilar for owners and breeders Debra Wellmann and Shiloh Rhodes and trainer Kie Mushinski. The 3-year-old filly is by Mitole TB, out of the Hes Relentless mare Shes Relentlesswagon. She now has one win, two seconds and two thirds from seven starts, with earnings of $20,376.
One Magic Eagle, Bm Candi Royale, Paint This Rose, Lettibefirst and Pairadice City completed the order of finish.
