KJ Mucho Macho Man Delivers Stakes Winners Week After Week

Leading third-crop sire KJ Mucho Macho Man continues to deliver on racing’s biggest weekends.

One week after siring a Grade 2 futurity winner at Retama Park, KJ Mucho Macho Man came back Saturday night with a 1-2 finish in the $561,054 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs, led by KJ Meduzza and runner-up Man For Cos.

KJ Meduzza turned back a furious late bid from Man For Cos to capture the rich 350-yard final, giving KJ Mucho Macho Man another major stakes victory and an exacta in one of Louisiana’s premier races for 2-year-olds.

Breaking well under jockey Victor Manuel Urieta Jr., KJ Meduzza went immediately to the front and had enough left to hold off Man For Cos by a neck at the wire. The sorrel gelding completed 350 yards in :17.503, earning a 99 speed index over a fast racing surface.

The victory was worth $255,055 for owner J.A. Racing LLC and increased KJ Meduzza's career earnings to $605,092 from eight starts. He has won three races with four seconds, highlighted by victories in both the LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) and Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1). He was also runner-up in the Louisiana Bred Laddie Juvenile and a finalist in the Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2).

Trainer Miguel Pizana conditions KJ Meduzza, who was bred in Louisiana by Ruse Ranch LLC. He is by KJ Mucho Macho Man and out of the Ragazzo mare Meduzza. Offered at the 2025 LQHBA Yearling Sale, KJ Meduzza was a $20,000 RNA.

Man For Cos overcame an awkward start and unleashed a strong late surge under jockey Nestor Duran to finish second, a neck behind the winner and a neck in front of Cajun Tide.

The runner-up effort earned $96,333 for owner and breeder Ruse Ranch LLC and increased his career bankroll to $187,563.

Trained by Jose A. Garcia, Man For Cos has won four of seven starts with one second and one third. In addition to his runner-up finish in the LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1), he finished third in the Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) and was a finalist in the Louisiana Bred Laddie Futurity (RG2).

Man For Cos is out of the Tee Cos mare Just For Cos. Ruse Ranch LLC offered the gelding at the 2025 LQHBA Yearling Sale, where he was a $6,500 RNA.

Week After Week

The LQHBA Sale Futurity performance came just one week after another major futurity victory for KJ Mucho Macho Man on August 22.

Ruse Man Crystal drew away from her rivals at Retama Park to capture the $230,000 TQHA Sires' Cup Futurity (RG2) by an impressive 2 1/2 lengths.

Ridden by Victor Manuel Urieta Jr. for trainer Jose A. Garcia, Ruse Man Crystal broke on top and was never seriously threatened, completing 350 yards in :17.518 and earning a 106 speed index while racing into a 7 mph headwind.

The victory was worth $92,523 for owner K K Horse Racing and increased Ruse Man Crystal's career earnings to $152,341. The sorrel filly has won three of four career starts with one third. Earlier this season, she finished third in the Oklahoma Futurity (G2).

Ruse Ranch LLC bred Ruse Man Crystal in Louisiana. The daughter of KJ Mucho Macho Man is out of Crystal Sola, by Walk Thru Fire.

Consistently Topping The Leader Boards

With KJ Meduzza, Man For Cos and Ruse Man Crystal delivering major performances on consecutive weekends, KJ Mucho Macho Man continues to establish himself among the nation's leading sires.

From only three crops to race, KJ Mucho Macho Man has now sired more than $4.5 million in progeny earnings, averaging approximately $45,000 per starter, with eight $100,000+ money earners.

He currently ranks as the No. 1 Leading Third-Crop Sire in the nation, the No. 4 Leading Sire of 2-Year-Old Money Earners and the No. 8 Overall Leading Sire of 2026.

His leading runner, multiple graded stakes winner KJ Bad Moon Rising, has earned $1,424,856 through age 4. An eight-time winner, he captured the New Mexico State Fair Futurity (RG2) and finished second in the All American Futurity (G1).
