Curls Magic Wagon Retired, Will Enter Stud at Bob Moore Farms in 2027

Grade 3 winner and multiple graded stakes-placed Curls Magic Wagon SI 103, a son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon, has been retired from racing and will begin his stallion career at Bob Moore Farms near Norman, Oklahoma, for the 2027 breeding season.

Owned by Martin Stacy, the 4-year-old brown stallion retires with six wins, four seconds, and three thirds from 19 career starts and earnings of $424,368.

His introductory fee is $3,000, with an early-bird special of $2,500 if paid in full by February 1, 2027. Discounts are available for black-type and multiple mares. Curls Magic Wagon is eligible for the Oklahoma Bred and Black Gold programs.

Curls Magic Wagon proved himself against top-level competition throughout his three-year racing career. As a 2-year-old, he won four of seven starts and finished second in the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) while also qualifying for the Heritage Place Futurity(G1).

At 3, he added another victory and finished second in both the Mr Master Bug Stakes(RG3) and All American Invitational Stakes. He was also a finalist in the Texas Classic Derby(G1) and Heritage Place Derby(G2).

Curls Magic Wagon returned at 4 this season to capture the Keokuk Stakes(G3) and added graded placings with a runner-up effort in the Bob Moore Memorial Stakes(G2) and a third in the Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes(RG2). He was also a finalist in the Mr Jet Moore Stakes(RG2).

Bred on one of the industry's most proven crosses, Curls Magic Wagon is by Pyc Paint Your Wagon SI 107, the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner whose runners have earned more than $44.5 million. From 17 crops of racing age, Pyc Paint Your Wagon has sired 132 stakes winners and five champions.

Curls Magic Wagon is out of Eye A Spit Curl Girl SI 105, by Spit Curl Jess, an eight-time winner of $180,754 whose victories included two runnings of the Two Rivers Stakes(G3) and the Skip Zimmerman Memorial Stakes. She has produced 10 starters, all ROM, including nine winners.

The female family has been particularly productive at the championship level. Curls Magic Wagon is a full brother to AQHA Racing Champion Aged Mare Curls Joyful Wagon SI 100, winner of $479,505, and AQHA Racing Champion Aged Mare Curls Happy Wagon SI 103, winner of $360,674. He is also a full brother to stakes winner Curls Patti Wagon SI 106, winner of $110,081.

Trainer John Stinebaugh, who has trained Curls Magic Wagon as well as several other members of the immediate family, pointed to the qualities he believes the young stallion can transmit to his offspring.

"I've had the honor of training not only Curls Magic Wagon, but also several other horses out of his dam. All of the family has exemplary speed, soundness, longevity, and are also good-minded. I am certain he will pass these qualities on to the babies he sires, and can't wait to have some in my stable.
