Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission Approves Hair Testing

CASPER, WY—MARCH 28, 2018—During the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission meeting held March 23 in Casper, commissioners adopted a rule change to allow hair testing on equine athletes.

The new language clarifies and gives direction regarding what equine testing samples are permissible, and it corrects language with regard to banned controlled substances.

In furthering the Commission’s mission to provide the highest level of integrity in all pari-mutuel events, the Commission sees the need to embrace new technological advances in testing capabilities.

"By adding hair testing, the Commission will prevent and deter fraudulent activities," said executive director Charles Moore.
