BY MICHAEL CUSORTELLI
AUBURN, WA–AUGUST 5, 2022–Chris Sutton's CM Once Ina Bluemoon will put his five-race win streak on the line in Sunday's 440-yard Bank of America Emerald Championship Challenge trials at Emerald Downs.
A 7-year-old son of Ivory James trained by Nick Lowe, CM Once Ina Bluemoon has won 20 of 44 races and has earned $155,408, and his four wins in as many outs at Emerald Downs include a 1 1/2-length victory in last year's Bank of America Emerald Championship Challenge. The gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by James Wooten Jr. in the second of two trials.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 28, $40,000-added final.
Also on Sunday, 15 2-year-olds are entered in two 350-yard John Deere Emerald Juvenile Challenge trials.
Jose Luis Torres' Dash To The Flash T is coming off of a third-place finish, one length behind winner AJ Run For Cash, in the July 4, $88,000 Grants Pass Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass Downs. Freddy Ibarra trains the homebred Five Bar Cartel gelding.
Dash To The Flash T drew post 7 and will be ridden by Jose A. Figueroa in the first heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $30,000-added final on August 28.
