PRINEVILLE, OR–JULY 16, 2022–Warhock scores his second stakes win of his 2022 season in the $19,423 Jack Rhoden Memorial Bonus Challenge Stakes at Crooked River Roundup Saturday night.
The 250-yard race is geared towards 3-year-old and up quarter horses who are challenge enrolled.
Post-time favorite, Warhock, ridden by Rachel Goodgame, went all out down the lane taking lead at the stretch and crossing the wire 3/4-length ahead of Cm Boom Shakalaka. The 6-year-old gelding by Zoomin For Bux clocked an impressive 121 speed index to set a new track in :12.811 seconds for the short distanced race.
Warhock has posted a win, place or show 24 times out of 30 in his racing career. With 10 wins on the track, the Jack Rhoden Memorial makes his second in stakes victories, both this year.
The Benito Curiel trained gelding has earned $80,096 for his owner Malon Cowgill. Bred by Hayden Brothers Ranch, Warhock is out of Copa Show Girl by Corona Cartel.
Cm Boom Shakalaka, under the guidance of James Wooten Jr. made a game effort for the wire, coming up short to place second with a 117 speed index in :12.916 seconds.
Trained by Nick Lowe, Cm Boom Shakalaka and his owner Chris Sutton have visited the winner’s circle 14 times with $208,564 in career earnings. Bred by Randy Dickerson, the 7-year-old gelding by Carters Cartel is out of Mi Fames A Dandy by Dash Ta Fame.
Coming in third place was Louisana Bunny with Cruz Contreras in the irons. The multiple stakes winner owned and bred by the Estate of Lee Markholt has banked $57,387 in career earnings. Nick Lowe also trained the 4-year-old filly by Louisiana Senator out the Best Advice mare My Best Bunny Yet.
The remaining order of finish for the Jack Rhoden Memorial Bonus Challenge Stakes is Lionized, Fast Moving Freight, No Juans Fool and Messanger.
