Snow Magically Sweet  Breaks Maiden With Ontario Bred Futurity at Ajax Downs Tuesday
Snow Magically Sweet (#7) holds off Sugar N Pride (#6) and Pretty Magicall (#2) and General Skywalker (#8) to win the $43,740(US) Ontario Bred Futurity today at Ajax Downs.

Snow Magically Sweet  Breaks Maiden With Ontario Bred Futurity at Ajax Downs Tuesday

AJAX, ONT–AUGUST 2, 2023–Snow Magically Sweet (8-1) broke her maiden in a nose win over post time favorite and fastest qualifier Sugar N Pride in the $43,740(US) Ontario Bred Futurity at Ajax Downs Tuesday.

Jockey Alexis Sanchez drove Snow Magically Sweet to the lead while completing the 300 yards in :15.969 seconds, with a 7 mph tailwind, getting her first career win a blanket-finish that included the top five finishers. 

"I didn't really know anything about the filly," said Sanchez, whose father Ramiro Sanchez Castillo is a leading rider at Ajax. "I was just riding with confidence and riding for Jason and Milena, who gave me a chance to ride this filly."

Racing for owner Milena Kwiecien and trainer Jason Pascoe, Snow Magically Sweet entered today's final with the fourth fastest qualifying time when she finished third in her career debut, the July 12 trials.  The $17,497 winner's purse today boosted the black filly's earnings mark to $18,495.

Brooke Sisson bred the daughter Maryland Magic from the Dash To Chivato mare Sweet Little Chivato.Snow Magically Sweet became the first stakes winner for her sire Maryland Magic, who stands at Kwiecien's Snow Pony Farm in Burlington, Ontario.

George Coleman's fastest qualifier Sugar N Pride earned $8,749(US) after suffering his first career loss. Bob Broadstock trains the son of multiple stakes sire Sugarman Perry from the Black Moons Arising mare Lady Pagrana. Heste Sport Inc. is the breeder. Rachael Isaacs had the riding call.

Pretty Magicall, also owned by Kwiecien and trained by Pascoe, finished a head back to earn $4,374(US) for finishing third. Jockey J.B. Botello had the riding call aboard the Heste Sport Inc. bred daughter of Maryland Magic from the Pretty Boy Perry mare Pretty Jane Perry. Third in the Ajax Stallion Auction Futurity two races back the bay filly has banked $12,430 in four starts.

General Skywalker, Senator Rose, Fiesty Feebee and You Are The Reason completed the field. Dashes Of Ivory, Double Dashin Corona and Papa Chase Now were scratched. 

Quarter Horse racing at Ajax Downs continues next Wednesday, August 9 with the running of the Princess Derby for 3-year-old fillies.
