Trainer Dee Keener Dominates PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity Trials

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 9, 2016—Trainer Dee Keener dominated Remington Park's PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity trials Friday night by saddling three of the four trial winners and qualifying six of 10 finalists to the Grade 1 race for 2-year-old American Paints.

Presented by the Paint Stallion Breeders’ Association, the $35,000-added American Paint Classic for 2-year-old Paints will be contested at Remington Park on Saturday, April at a distance of 350 yards.

Ridden AQHA Racing Champion jockey Cody Jensen, Dtl Josie Wales broke his maiden in the last trial while getting the top qualifying mark of :18.092 seconds into a 15 mph headwind. The son of Judys Lineage wore down his stablemate Phq Goodbye Earl to get the head victory.

Elizabeth Logan owns the Oklahoma-bred gelding out of Josie Cartel by Corona Cartel (QH). Dtl Josie Wales has a (3) 1-1-0 record this season and has earned $12,054. After a trouble start, he was fifth in the Grade 1 Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Horse Futurity at Remington Park in his last start.

The aforementioned Phq Goodbye Earl held on to the second fastest qualifying time of :18.114 seconds. Also bred by Keener, the gelding by Awesome Chrome races for Paint Horse Queens. Still a maiden after three starts, Phq Goodbye Earl was 8th in the Grade 1 Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Horse Futurity in his last start. He is out of the Judys Lineage mare Sayonara.

Keener's third qualifier kicked off the night with a neck in win the first trial. Also ridden by Jensen, Dtl Batter Up covered the 350 yards distance in :18.141 seconds to record the third fastest time.

Also owned by Elizabeth Logan, the SF Royal Quick Flash gelding was bred by Dean and Tonya Lester from the Leaving Memories (QH) mare Beef Jerkin Queen. He is -1-0-1 from two starts.

His stable mate and runner-up in the first trial Ftl Fast Flyin Tex held on to the fourth fastest time of :18.182 seconds, giving trainer Keener the top four qualifiers. He also saddled 6th fastest Snookie and 8th fastest Rut Row.

Kelly Yearlsley Equine LLC's Fade Shot got her second win in as many starts in third trial for trainer Juan Aleman. The Fade To Fame filly recorded the fifth fastest time of :18.296 seconds, into a 14 mph headwind. The Oklahoma-bred filly is out of Valdarama, by Country Quick Dash.
