First Rate Version Wins Beehive Futurity, Alvaro Torres and Oscar Cervantes Win Five Races on Card

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—MAY 18, 2014—First Rate Version, a Winners Version colt owned by Joe Henderson and Nate Johnson, won the $45,405 Beehive Futurity on Saturday at Laurel Brown Racetrack. RNL Make An Exit finished second with Streaking Diamonds finishing third.

Ridden by jockey Oscar Cervantes, First Rate Version completed the 300 yards in :15.664 seconds to pickup the winner's purse of $16,242. Alvarro Torres saddled the Lane Henderson Utah-bred from the Stel Corona mare Chinco Baby.

Torres and Cervantes handily won five of the eight races carded at Laurel Brown Saturday, including the South Valley/JR Stables Futurity and the Bank of America/Legacy Coin Maiden Challenge.

Ron Moosman saddled runner-up Rnl Makn An Exit, a Maknmoves filly owned by Rain Racing, LLC. Ronald and Laure Moosman bred her from the Lanes Lenister mare Needaexitnow. She earned $6,961 for the effort.

Streaking Diamonds, also a daughter of Maknmoves trained by Moosman, was third for owner/breeder E.J. Petitti. Out of the Striking Distance mare, Strinking Diamonds, she picked up $4,640 for the effort.

Completing the field were Visual Display, Flash N The Gals, Gg Motorboaten, Micks Storm ForDough, Movin A Legacy and Svcookiedough.

Fastest qualifier Pcr Separate Stone, a Brookstone Bay colt owned by Greg Torgerson and Steven Christensen was scratched after bruising a muscle in his stall last week. He is expected to make his next start in the Bitterroot Futurity trials next month.

Alvaro saddled Gunnin For Doe to victory in the $18,447 South Valley/ JR Stables Futurity for owner/breeder Steve Berry. Cervantes was aboard the FDD Dynasty gelding out of Bundle Doe, by Hennessy (TB).

Gunnin For Doe earned $6,456 for the win. Shes Movin Foose was second and Makn Fame finished third.

Trainer Ron Moosman saddled Josie Bassett to victory in the $13,312 IFA/Purina Derby, defeating fastest qualifier and stablemates Jr Czech Swing who was third and Gm Shes Makin Moves who finished second. Josie Bassett is a Maknmoves filly owned-and-bred by Jim Nebeker from the Mr Eye Opener mare Eyes Rockin On. She earned $4,660 for the effort.

In the $18,042 Bank of America/Legacy Coin Maiden Challenge is was Honest Eagle, a 3-year-old One Famous Eagle, who got the trophy for owner Famous Lane Farms, LLC. Torres saddled the Rodney Christiansen Utah bred out of Quiet Courage, by Heza Fast Man. Cervantes had the riding call again. Honey Eagle picked up $8,300 for the win.

Fearless Fire was second and Hawkinson Eyes finished third.
