Mysterious Blues delivered a strong finish Saturday afternoon at Sweetwater Downs to capture the $273,550 WABRA-Wyoming Bred QH Futurity [R], defeating Dashn Steffie by a half-length in the 330-yard championship for accredited Wyoming-bred 2-year-olds.

The gray daughter of Mister Moody Blue completed the 330 yards in :16.534, earning a 109 speed index over a fast racing surface. An 11 mph crosswind was recorded for the race.

Breaking from post nine under jockey Victor Felipe Dominguez, Mysterious Blues overcame a seventh-place start before producing a strong driving finish to earn the $109,420 winner's share. The victory improved her career record to three wins and two seconds from six starts with earnings of $125,340.

Ryan F. Christensen trains Mysterious Blues for owner Leeanne A. Christensen. Gary Laramie bred the 2024 gray filly in Wyoming from the Bridlewood mare Unbridled Mystery.

Dashn Steffie finished a half-length behind the winner in second, earning $54,710 for Bar 3 Quarter Horses. The daughter of multiple stakes sire Jr Dynasty Mountain is trained by Kylie Valenzuela and was ridden by Jose Juan Olivo. She was bred by Ron and Laurie Moosman from the Maknmoves mare Steffies Dashn Moves.

Dashn Steffie has won three of six career starts with one second and earnings of $83,184. In addition to her runner-up effort in Saturday's WABRA-Wyoming Bred QH Futurity, she was a finalist in the Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity and 307HR Wyoming Bred Futurity.

Living The Dreamm finished a head behind Dashn Steffie in third and collected $27,355. The 2-year-old gelding races for CG Racing, LLC and is trained by Jarrett Mills. Aram S. Martinez had the riding assignment.

Bred in Wyoming by CG Racing LLC and David Hill, Living The Dreamm is by multiple stakes sire Bodacious Dash from the Ec Jet One mare Kd Ladys Luck. Saturday's effort increased his career record to two wins, one second and four thirds from seven starts with earnings of $65,135. He was also third in the Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity.

The official order behind the top three was Lil Pollys Train, Acquittedd, Jlm Maggieslastdance, Mario Cartell, Miss Junior Cartel, Chilled Coronas and CG A Moody Willow. CG A Moody Willow originally crossed the wire eighth but was disqualified and placed 10th after a stewards' inquiry determined the horse bore in and disrupted rivals at the start.

The WABRA-Wyoming Bred QH Futurity was restricted to accredited Wyoming-bred 2-year-olds that qualified through trials conducted September 12 and 13 at Sweetwater Downs.

The Sundanz Kid, a young son of leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 from multiple stakes winner Sheza Freighttrain T, will begin his stud career at Woods Farm in Bear River, Wyoming, for the 2027 breeding season.

Owned by Sundanz Kid, LLC, the 2024 sorrel colt will stand his introductory season for a fee of $1,500.

The Sundanz Kid is the only son of the leading sire Flying Cowboy 123, standing in Wyoming in 2027. He is enrolled in the Beehive and Bitterroot programs and is Wyoming and Kentucky Accredited.

Unraced, The Sundanz Kid brings together one of the industry's most successful young sires with a deep black-type female family.

His sire, two-time champion Flying Cowboy 123 SI 101, won the Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity and earned $965,811 during his racing career. Flying Cowboy 123 has quickly established himself among the industry's leading sires, with 58 stakes winners, three champions and progeny earnings exceeding $23.5 million from his first four crops of racing age.

His leading runners include two-time champion and Grade 1 All American Futurity winner Cowboys Gun Z SI 101, earner of $1,678,945; two-time champion Lethal Cowboy 123 SI 99, winner of the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and earner of $1,530,997 through 2026; and champion Flying Joy 1 SI 99, winner of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity.

Flying Cowboy 123 is also the sire of 2026 Grade 1 TQHA Sale Futurity winner Cowboys Flying SI 111, who has earned $562,793, and multiple stakes winner Cardiac Cowboy SI 102, an earner of $481,279.

The Sundanz Kid's female family adds considerable strength to his stallion credentials. His dam, Sheza Freighttrain T SI 107, was one of the leading Louisiana-bred distaffers of her generation, winning 12 races and earning $574,840.

A daughter of world champion sire Freighttrain B, Sheza Freighttrain T is a nine-time stakes winner including the Grade 2 Lassie Futurity, Selma Stakes twice, Mother's Day Stakes, Delta Dash Stakes, EVD Dash Stakes and Flashy Hemp Stakes twice. She also finished second in the Grade 1 LQHBA Sale Futurity, Grade 2 Mardi Gras Futurity and Grade 2 Bob Moore Memorial Stakes.

Sheza Freighttrain T has produced two winners from two starters, including Jessa Royal Tee SI 93, a two-time winner and earner of $33,406, and Hes No Politician SI 96, a winner with earnings of $17,720. Both are by leading sire Apollitical Jess.

Hes No Politician was a $230,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate in 2024.

The second dam, Cloning Around, is a half-sister to Grade 1 stakes winner and sire Hiclass La Jolla SI 104, who earned $349,118, and Hi On the List SI 95, an $85,412 earner who was runner-up in the Pat Hyland Memorial Handicap and a finalist in the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity.

The family traces through Grade 3 Black Gold 350 Futurity runner-up Hiclass Cloned SI 95, a half-sister to Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity winner A Chick Of Class SI 96, earner of $161,824.

Hiclass Cloned also produced Hiclass La Jolla, winner of the Grade 1 Speedhorse Gold and Silver Cup Futurity and All American Juvenile Invitational. Hiclass La Jolla was also third in both the Grade 1 All American Derby and Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby.

The combination gives The Sundanz Kid a pedigree featuring Grade 1 quality on both sides—by a sire already responsible for multiple champions and millionaires and out of a $574,840 multiple stakes-winning mare from a proven black-type family.

Wynnchester drew clear to a commanding victory in the $28,144 Q-Racing Video Distance Challenge Stakes (G3) on Saturday evening at Lone Star Park.

Ridden by Mario Delgado, Wynnchester took command around the turn and powered away to win the 870-yard event by 6 1/4 lengths. The 5-year-old gelding stopped the clock in :44.860, earning a 107 speed index over a fast track.

Owned by Lucky Ladies and trained by Justin Joiner, Wynnchester was bred by Bobby Cox and sold for $90,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. He is by champion sire Favorite Cartel, out of the stakes-winning FDD Dynasty mare Nellie Delaney.

Wynnchester is a half-brother to stakes winner Koalition ($103,056), while his female family includes champion PHQ Apollitical Jess ($401,545).

The victory improved Wynnchester's record to five wins, three seconds and five thirds from 22 starts. The $14,072 winner's share boosted his earnings to $122,315.

Earlier this season, he won the Remington Park Distance Championship Stakes (G1), and last year he captured the Will Rogers Downs Distance Challenge Stakes (G3).

PJ Dynasty finished second under Fernando Fonseca-Soto for owner Terry Reed and trainer Haley Hobbs. A $8,500 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale graduate bred by Ken O'Brien, the 5-year-old gelding is by Power Jam TB, out of the stakes-winning FDD Dynasty mare Takiana Romanova B.

PJ Dynasty now has three wins, one second and two thirds from 12 starts, with earnings of $41,826. He entered Saturday's race following a fourth-place finish in the Covered Bridges Stakes (G3).

Red Jet crossed the wire third under Cordarelton Benn for owners Scott and Jaime Bryant and trainer Justin Joiner. Bred by Julianna Hawn Holt, the $250,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate is by Jet Black Patriot, out of champion Feature Mr Jess mare Stylish Jess BR. He is a half-brother to three-time champion Flash And Roll ($1,710,718), winner of the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1).

Red Jet now has one win, one second and three thirds from 14 starts, with earnings of $28,098. Still in search of his first stakes victory, he has been a finalist in the Remington Park Distance Challenge Stakes (G2) and All American Juvenile Stakes.

Yippee Ki Yey, Dm Special Cat and Hezamonzter completed the order of finish.

The Sunday afternoon program at Hipódromo de las Américas will feature seven trial heats for the Futurity Desafío Crianza Mexicana-RG3, with Mexico-bred Quarter Horse juveniles racing for a place in the $136,811 final.

The trials will be contested in races two through eight, with each field covering 350 yards. The ten fastest qualifiers from the seven trial heats will advance to the Futurity Desafío Crianza Mexicana-RG3 final, scheduled for Sunday, October 18. Sunday’s card begins at 3:00 p.m., with the first futurity trial scheduled as race two at approximately 3:30 p.m.

DK Pistolero will be among the leading juveniles to watch when he breaks from post two in the opening trial. The 2-year-old colt is listed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite and has a record of one win, two seconds, and one third from eight starts, with earnings of $150,699 pesos. He enters the trials after a strong runner-up finish against allowance company on September 6, when he earned an 80-speed index.

The son of Bullish One, out of the One Famous Eagle mare La Paz, has already shown his ability in futurity competition this season. DK Pistolero broke his maiden at Hipódromo de las Américas in May and later finished second in a June futurity trial. He has reached an 82-speed index twice this year and will be ridden from post two in Sunday’s opening heat.

Several other accomplished juveniles are spread across the seven trials, making the race against the clock especially competitive. KC Jess Krash is the program selection in race three, while KC Flyin Jess leads the selections in race four. Peligrosita Eagle is the top choice in race five, DK Francia heads the selections in race six, and Demon Kat RG is among the leading contenders in race seven. DK Seis Nueve will be one of the horses to watch in the final trial, race eight.

Peligrosita Eagle brings one of the strongest recent 350-yard performances into the trials. The juvenile clocked 17.25 seconds over 350 yards at Hipódromo de las Américas on August 23, the fastest previous 350-yard time among the leading horses on Sunday’s program. DK Francia follows closely with a 17.33-second effort from the same August 23 card. KC Flyin Jess has recorded 17.52 seconds at the distance, while DK Seis Nueve has stopped the clock in 17.55.

With seven heats and only ten spots in the final, every fraction of a second will matter. The Futurity Desafío Crianza Mexicana RG3 trials will put some of Mexico’s promising young Quarter Horses against the clock, and the fastest performers will earn the chance to return on October 18 to compete for the $136,811 final.
