Survivors were welcomed into the winner's circle for a picture with the jockeys after the Sam Houston Breast Cancer Awareness Race on Friday night.

HOUSTON, TX–MAY 3, 2024–On Friday night, breast and ovarian cancer survivors were honored with Sam Houston Race Park's version of "The Survivors Parade".

In the fifth race of the night, called the "Sam Houston Race Park Breast Cancer Awareness Race", all jockeys wore pink silks and the horses displayed pink saddle towels to raise awareness for breast cancer.

After the race, the survivors were invited to the winner's circle for a photo with the jockeys.

"The Survivors Parade" is a touching tradition that celebrates survivors of breast and ovarian cancer. It takes place every year at Churchill Downs' historic racetrack before the Longines Kentucky Oaks race and is meant to inspire those still fighting their cancer battle.

The 16th annual Survivors Parade was also presented on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Churchill Downs, honoring 150 survivors and fighters. The chosen participants lined up on the grass track, representing the 150 years of the Kentucky Derby.
