CYPRESS, CA–JUNE 8, 2026– Los Alamitos Race Course enjoyed what is believed to be the largest single-wager pool in its 75-year nighttime racing history on Sunday night, when $540,660 in new money was played into the track’s Pick Six. Buoyed by a three-day carryover of $166,018, the total pool reached a staggering $706,678.
This performance eclipsed the previous track record for a nighttime wager—a total pool of $495,755 ($342,832 in new money plus a $152,920 carryover) set in the Pick Six on Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity night on December 12, 2008.
The $540,660 bet into Sunday's Pick Six also established a new single-night betting record for any nighttime pool at Los Alamitos, comfortably bettering the $454,040 wagered in the track’s early Pick Four on May 20, 2020.
Horse players who successfully navigated Sunday's sequence were rewarded with a payout of $18,315. The sequence concluded in the final race with the running of the Fred Scane Stakes for Quarter Horses at 300 yards, won by second choice My Favorite Paris at 2-1 odds. The sequence's biggest price came in the fourth leg, where 18-1 longshot Shine Ellyn captured a 350-yard allowance for Quarter Horses.
The Pick Six pool built to its record-breaking total following an initial carryover of $13,167 on Saturday night, May 30, which grew to a $59,292 double carryover on Sunday night, May 31. When the sequence went unsolved yet again on Saturday, June 6, the resulting $166,018 triple carryover set the stage for Sunday's historic pool.
Early signs of a massive night came when players poured more than $201,000 into the track’s popular early Pick Four. Horse players then responded in kind to the Pick Six opportunity, driving the total pool past the three-quarter-million-dollar mark.
Live racing returns to Los Alamitos on Saturday, June 13, featuring the Abigail Kawananakoa Stakes for fillies and mares, alongside a fresh start for the Pick Six. If the Saturday sequence is hit and there is no carryover heading into the Sunday, June 14 card, Los Alamitos will add $10,000 into the Pick Six, continuing its popular promotion for Sundays without a carryover. The $10k Promo guarantees that there will always be either a Pick Six Carryover or $10,000 in seed money in the Pick Six at Los Alamitos every Sunday night.
