All Stakes Late Pick Four Set For Saturday Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 7, 2022— It’s an all-stakes Late Pick Four on Saturday night at Los Alamitos with the $125,000 Robert Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship being the final leg of this action-packed sequence on Saturday night.

The Late Pick Four races will consist of races 7 through 10 with 2-year-olds kicking off the sequence with the $20,000 Nuther Brother Stakes in race seven followed by sophomore fillies racing in the $20,000 Corona Kool Stakes in race eight.

The $35,000 Sound Dash Handicap for 3-year-olds and up fillies and mares is slated as the ninth race on the card and the Los Alamitos Championship will wrap up the card in the 10th race.

The Nuther Brother is named after the Spencer Childers-bred superstar of 1969, who won nine of 11 races during his juvenile campaign including the Los Ninos Handicap and the Pomona Futurity. J. Francisco Diaz’s El Aventurero, who ran fourth in the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity, and Firecracker Futurity winner AJRun For Cash are among the 10 freshman in this 300-yard dash.

The Corona Kool is named after the millionaire champion filly, who twice defeated aged males, first in the 2001 Los Alamitos Championship and then in the 2002 Los Alamitos Winter Championship. Her 14 wins also included the 2000 Los Alamitos Super Derby and 1999 Los Alamitos Million Futurity. The Corona Kool will feature seven sophomore fillies led by Bobby Cox’s recent allowance winner Candy Dice and Autumn Handicap winner Lovely Evening.

The Sound Dash is named after the seven-time stakes winner, who in her sophomore year finished second to Refrigerator in the 1992 Champion of Champions. Sound Dash won the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap in her final career in 1995.

The Sound Dash will be headed by 2021 Mildred Vessels winner Reason To Fly MV and Virginia Hyland Stakes winner Famous Shining Star.

Multiple stakes winners Astranomical and In My Heart will also be in action in the Sound Dash.
