GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—OCTOBER 17, 2021—There were five claims in the fourth race, a $12,400 2-year-old accredited Texas-Bred Quarter Horse $5,000 maiden claiming at 300 yards on Saturday night at Lone Star Park.
Zsuzannah, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Hez Fast As Cash, was a 1-½ length winner under jockey Mario Delgado. Trainer James Gonzales III saddled the brown filly for owners Heavy Hitter Racing Stables and Triple R Racing Stables.
Trainer Jeffery Charles Brooks claimed Zsuzannah for himself. Bred by Bullard Farms from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Go, Zsuzannah was third in her career debut at Arizona Downs June 29th. She did not finish in her last start, a trial for the Gillespie County Fair Futurity on August 14th.
Racing secretary Matt Crawford tweeted there was a 23-way shake on the 9 horse, Dashes Dont Cheat, a gelded son of Down N Dash racing for owner-breeder Pete Scarmardo. Trainer Fernanda Ruiz won the shake for owner Jose Gonzalez. The sorrel gelding has compiled a (5) 0-1-2 record with his best finish a second in the TQHA Sale Futurity trials at Sam Houston in July.
Other claims in the race were Lil Foose Coupe, who finished 4th, was claimed by Jorge Luis Barrera for Jorge Barrera; Rad, who finished 8th, claimed by Rick Sorrels for Rick Sorrels; and Happy Capi, who finished 9th, was claimed by trainer Roberto Duenes for Kevin David Guereca.
Additional claims on Saturday's card were Race 2: Journeys First Star ad One Zippin Diamond for $5,000; and Race7: Legacy Crest for $20,000.
Lone Star Park will resume racing next Friday (October 22nd) with an 11 race card set to kickoff at 6:05 (CDT) first post.
