AQHA Racing Champion Jockey Ricky Ramirez Steps Back From Full Time Racing

EL PASO, TX—JUNE 10, 2021—AQHA Champion Jockey Ricky Ramirez, the sport's No. 6 all-time jockey by money earned, will be transitioning to part-time race riding as he pursues other business interests, he told the El Paso Times' Felix Chavez.

Ramirez will be in Ruidoso on Sunday for the Ruidoso Futurity, the first leg of the Quarter Hrse Triple Crown for two-year-olds. He will be aboard Apollitical J Legacy, who is listed as 8-1 in the morning-line and will start in the No. 6 post.

Ramirez has mount earnings of more than $40 million, and rode last year's world champion Whistle Stop Cafe. He was the sport's champion rider in 2015.
