Indiana Extends Nomination Deadline

SHELBYVILLE, IN—MARCH 25, 2020—The Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana (QHRAI) realizes that this is a difficult time for many of our horsemen. As is customary, the QHRAI will still be taking the April 1 stake entry nominations, however the nomination date is being extended to May 1.

At this time, both the nomination and sustaining payment will be due on May 1, with no assessed late fee.

The stakes with initial April 1 nomination deadlines include:

  • Harley Greene Derby
  • Born Runner Classic
  • Jaguar Rocket Trials
  • Gordon Mobley Futurity
  • Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby
  • Heartland Futurity

Even with the government’s COVID-19 restrictions and the closing of Indiana Grand we are hopeful that the restrictions will be lifted, and we will get the 2020 Quarter Horse meet started. At this time, we do not know the exact schedule for the Quarter Horse stake trials and finals.

The association will still continue to accept nominations on April 1 with the sustaining payment on May 1, or pay all together on May 1. If a stake race is canceled, the nominator will be refunded the full amount paid into that race.

"We appreciate horsemen choosing to participate in the QHRAI Stakes program," says Dianne Bennett, Executive Director for the QHRAI. "We will provide you with updates to the Quarter Horse race schedule when received."

Stakes nominations forms can be found on the and more information can be found on the QHRAI website.
