Apollitical Chad Leads Way in Heritage Place Winter Mixed Closing Session Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 18, 2020—Gelding's continued to dominate the Heritage Place Winter Mixed by capturing the top-selling spot in all three sessions this week.

Today (Saturday), multiple Grade 1 winner Apolitical Chad became the high-seller in session three when Jose Espinoza paid $85,000 for the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess. Marty Powers, Agent consigned the Ruidoso Futurity(G1) winner out of Fast Prize Tracy by Shazoom. The 6-year-old has earned $930,730.

"We had a big finish to the Winter Mixed Sale 2020," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Saturday. "The final day average of $12,565 on horses sold, is an 18% increase in the average sale price when compared to the final day of 2019." Heritage Place Sale Company reported 645 horses sold in the 2020 sale for gross receipts of $7,743,000. That was compared to 610 sold in 2019 for $7,171,800. The 2020 average rose to $12,005 compared to $11,757 one-year-ago and the median stayed even at $7,700.

"Overall the sale finished with an average sale price of $12,005 which is an increase of approximately 2% over 2019," Kidney continued. "89% of the horses offered this year were sold and the crowd remained strong throughout the weekend. On behalf of Heritage Place, we want say 'Thank You' to all buyers and consignors and wish everyone well on their purchases and at the races."

Saturday's second highest-seller, Hip 824 was a Foal-In-Utero by world champion sire Good Reason SA from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Honeymoon Candy purchased by Ray Willis for $80,000. Dunn Ranch, Agent for Valeriano Racing was the consignor. Honeymoon Candy is a half-sister to AQHA Racing Champion Jess Good Candy.

AQHA Racing Champion Kvn Corona sired the third high-seller, Hip 648 a Foal-In-Utero from the champion producing First Down Dash mare Little Surfer. Cavenaugh Quarter Horse LLC paid $70,000 for the half-sibling to their 2019 AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-old Uncle D. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC was the consignor.

Cuadrael Mashta was the sale's leading buyer with 16 purchases totaling $229,200. Cesar Nunez and Christina Flores signed three tickets for $221,000 and Alejandro Castaned had 17 head for $155,600.

Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent was the leading consignor or agent with 49 head grossing $884,300. Bobby D. Cox had 60 head sell for $721,500 and Marty Powers Agent represented 60 head for $657,200.
