RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 19, 2019—Ruidoso Downs reported this morning (Monday) that Midday News won the shake for the 10th and final spot in the Grade 1, $1,550,855 All American Derby.
The son of world champion FDD Dynasty tied for the 10th fastest time of :21.516 seconds with Rustys Miracle during the 12 All American Derby trials conducted on Sunday.
Conditioned by trainer Michael W. Joiner, Midday News has compiled a (9) 2-2-4 record and earned $97,704. He was third in the West Texas Derby(G3) and a finalist in the Ruidoso QH Derby(G1) earlier this year.
Bred in Missouri by Jim Streelman and Bill Dale, from the Mr Jess Perry mare Summer Love Song, Midday News races for the partnership of Linda Joiner, Pat Smith, Izora Southway, Holly King and Kelly Allen.
Rustys Miracle, a daughter of Valiant Hero owned by J & SM, Inc., will become eligible to compete in the $100,000 Guaranteed First Down Dash Stakes that runs the same day as the All American Derby(G1), Sunday, September 1.
Conditioned by Fred Danley, Rustys Miracle won the 2018 Rainbow Juvenile and was a finalist in the All American Juvenile and Ruidoso Juvenile last season. She has also competed in the West Texas Derby(G3) and Mr Jess Perry Stakes in 2019.
Bred by Bob and Jerry Gaston, from the Fredricksburg mare Rustys Lil Lady, Rustys Miracle has won eight of 15 starts and earned $111,206.
