''Empire of Hope'' Raises More Than $46,000 for the Care of Retired Race Horses

SHELBYVILLE, IN—AUGUST 15, 2019—Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ: CZR), announced the final tally of funding raised during the recent "Empire of Hope" event Saturday, July 20, 2019. A total of $46,877.95 was collected through various activities and fundraising efforts at each of the Caesars Entertainment racetracks. The funding will assist with efforts to relocate, rehabilitate and repurpose retired racehorses for Standardbred, Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing.

"We are elated that 'Empire of Hope' was so successful in its first year," said Rick Moore, Vice President and General Manager of Racing at Harrah's Hoosier Park. "The events we held at our facility really engaged our fans and members of the racing community really got behind the cause. Being able to raise this kind of funding for our equine athletes is a program changing effort and a great boost to our entire industry."

It is estimated that more than 15,000 horses annually are placed in existing aftercare programs after their racing careers are complete. Caesars racetracks saw a need and an opportunity to step up and support a cause that affects each of their racing programs throughout the United States. Through Empire of Hope, Caesars will provide funding and support to accredited non-profit racehorse aftercare organizations, including Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and Standardbred Transition Alliance along with other local organizations that are linked directly to the individual racetracks.

"New Vocations Louisiana Chapter is just getting started in our area, so we were very pleased to donate our portion of the funding directly to their efforts in getting established," said Eric Halstrom, Vice President of Operations at Harrah's Louisiana Downs. "When we went to our local racing commission with plans for 'Empire of Hope,' they were so appreciative we were placing the focus on the betterment of aftercare for our horses. It was a great way to be a good corporate neighbor in the Louisiana racing industry."

The majority of the funding raised was accumulated at Harrah's Hoosier Park. More than $32,000 will go into Standardbred aftercare programs while just over $9,500 raised at Indiana Grand will go into programs associated with Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse organizations.

"The Standardbred Transition Alliance (STA) is so pleased that Caesars has embraced this initiative of recognizing and bringing awareness to horses that are now moving into different careers after racing," said David Reid, president of STA. "We are hopeful this will ignite more racing and casino companies like Caesars to see this example and follow suit in our joint effort as an industry to assist our equine athletes as they proceed into new careers after racing."

Empire of Hope was launched at four of Caesars' racing properties: Harrah's Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, LA; Indiana Grand in Shelbyville, IN; Harrah's Hoosier Park in Anderson, IN; and Harrah's Philadelphia. The initial goal was to raise $30,000. Therefore, the first "Empire of Hope" surpassed that figure by more than 50 percent through activities ranging from food and drink specials to entertainment and promotional activities. Each property designed numerous ways to accept donations and raise funds during the weekend of Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21, 2019.
