Boi George Ruidoso Bound After West Texas Victory

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—APRIL 15, 201—Miguel Gallegos and Mauricio Gallegos’ Boi George, winner of the $267,651 West Texas Futurity (G2), will now point at the All American Triple Crown — the Grade 1, $700,000 Ruidoso Futurity, the Grade 1, $900,000 Rainbow Futurity and the Grade 1, $2.6 million All American Futurity — this summer at Ruidoso Downs.

Boi George is eligible to race in each of the three premier Grade 1 futurities’ trials and his connections indicated after the West Texas Futurity that they plan on racing at Ruidoso Downs.

The Teller Cartel gelding earned $125,976 for his West Texas Futurity win.

Boi George is now two-for-two and each of his wins have come from the outside post position. In the West Texas Futurity, in broke in at the start and then rallied to get the expanding one-half length win in :14.873 for the 300 yards. He was overlooked at 16-1 odds in the West Texas Futurity.

The summer season at Ruidoso Downs starts on May 22 with two days of trials to the Ruidoso Futurity and those trials could be Boi George’s Ruidoso Downs debut.
