Tres Seis Quickly Becoming Versatile as Broodmare Sire

PURCELL, OK—APRIL 26, 2016—Sires and sire lines are big part of Quarter Horse breeding conversation, but broodmare sires are sometimes overlooked in these discussions.

It's not uncommon for a leading sire to become a leading broodmare sire, and recent North American titleholders in both divisions have included First Down Dash, Mr Jess Perry and Corona Cartel. Their genetic superiority combined with the elite group of broodmares they are exposed to almost guarantees daughters with producing potential.

The leading broodmare sires lists so far for 2016 is seeing another leading sire who is a newcomer starting to make his mark as a broodmare sire.

Tres Seis jumped all the way to #1 on this week's 2016 Leading Broodmare Sires by 2-Year-Old Money Earned list with $714,130.

His leading grand-get 2-year-old money earner this season is Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG2) winner Teller Baja with $347,778. The daughter of Teller Cartel is currently the leading money earning Quarter Horse in America for 2016.

On the 2016 Leading Broodmare Sires by Money Earned list the champion and leading sire moved ino the #4 position after a weekend that saw his daughter's produce two stakes winners, two stakes-placed and earners of more than $500,000.

Already in 2016 his grand-get have already earned more than $1 million. Tres Seis is the youngest broodmare sire on that list's "Top 20"stallions.

In 2016 Tres Seis' daughters have produced 75 starters, 25 winners, 3 stakes winners and 4 stakes-placed with Average Earnings Per Starter of $13,700. His 2-year-olds AE per starters is currently at $28,500.

Breeders' began to get a hint that Tres Seis might be special as a broodmare mare sire in 2014 when Kiss My Hocks, out of the Tres Seis mare Romancing Mary was named AQHA Racing Champion 2-year-old. He retired last season as the top earning grand-get of Tres Seis with nine wins in 12 starts and $1,199,385 in the bank. He won the Rainbow Derby(G1), Ruidoso Futurity(G1) and Sam Houston Futurity(G1). He was second in the Rainbow Futurity(G1) and finalist in the All American Derby(G1).

Tres Seis comes by his "Broodmare Sire" ability naturally through his dam, Our Third Delight by Reb's Policy (TB), who is one of the industry's all-time leading producers.

Our Third Delight produced 12 ROM and 8 stakes horses from 12 foals that made it to the racetrack. Two of the foals were named AQHA Racing Champions—Tres Seis, champion 2-year-old colt in 2001 and Dean Miracle, champion aged stallion in 1996.

She is also the dam of Grade 1 winner and former Broodmare of the Year Fortune Of Delight ($100,269), dam of champions A Delightful Dasher ($1,660,525) and Hes My Dasher ($575,774).

Fortune Of Delight's daughter G3 winner A Delightful Legacy is the dam of champion and multiple stakes sire Inseperable ($672,756), G3 winner Separate Interest ($486,761), etc.

The aforementioned Dean Miracle has not only been a successful sire, he has also been an outstanding broodmare sire with the likes of 2014 All American Futurity(G1) winner Jm Miracle ($1,489,462) and Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner Sure Shot B ($573,548) to name only a few.

Another daughter, Hidden Dragon, is the dam of Zula Dragon, the leading first crop sire of 2016 who got his first stakes winner last weekend when Running Dragon won the RG2 $297,925 New Mexican Spring Futurity at Sunland Park.

A son of Streakin Six, Dean Miracle was exported to Brazil a few years ago.

Tres Seis continues to be among the industry's leading sires each year.

Currently at #15 on the 2016 Leading Sires of Money Earned list his 3-year-old A Tres Of Pant won the $307,000 RG3 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby on Saturday night in Oklahoma City.

Out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare First Painted Sign, A Tres Of Paint has won 7 of 13 starts and earning $509,184. She is expected join Tres Seis' 3-year-old crop at Ruidoso this summer that should include Rainbow Futurity(G1) and Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner Tres Friends who earned $920,897 as a 2-year-old in 2015.

The stallion ended last year as the #5 Leading Sire of 2-Year-old Money Earners with more than $1.7 million.

From 11 crops to race the son of Sixarun currently ranks #17 on the All-Time Leading Sires of Money Earners list with more than $20.6 million. He has sired 54 stakes winners, 65 stakes-placed with Average Earnings Per Starter of $29,500.

His top performers include four-time AQHA Racing Champion and all-time leading money earner Ochoa ($2,781,365), Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) winner Tres Passes ($1,504,928), Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Tres Friends ($920,897 at 2), Rainbow Futurity(G1) Wild Six ($601,632), Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby(RG3) winner A Tres Of Paint ($509,184 to 3), etc.

Owned by a syndicate, Tres Seis stands at JEH Stallion Station's Oklahoma-Division near Purcell for a 2016 fee of $7,800.
