First Crop Sires Get First Winners/Stakes Finalists
AQHA Racing World Champion One Dashing Eagle got his first graded stakes qualifier over the weekend.

First Crop Sires Get First Winners/Stakes Finalists

DALLAS, TX—APRIL6, 2016—The ''first crop leading sires'' race continues to heat-up this week with more winners and a couple of stakes finalist.

World Champion One Dashing Eagle got his first stakes finalist when Df Dashing Champ qualified to the Grade 2 $540,600 Sam Houston Futurity at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday. Patrick Clemons conditions the $50,000 Ruidoso Select Sale graduate for owner Esmeralda Peck. He ran the 300 yards in :16.836 seconds, a 94-speed index.

Bred by Jo Ann Adams, from the AQHA Racing champion Rare Form mare Joanna Kate, Df Dashing Champ posted the 10th fastest time from 164 head that participated in 17 trial races.

As of this week One Dashing Eagle is tied with four other "first crop" sires who have gotten their first winners also. He is currently #3 on the Leading First Crop Sire of Money Earners list with $12,469.

Remington Park Oklahoma-bred Futurity winner Mighty B Valiant leads the earnings list this week at $15,642. He got his first winner and first stakes finalist when Valiant Zoom set the 16th fastest time in the Sam Houston Futurity trials. The :16.872 (92 speed index) clocking for 330 yards put the Wendy Garcia trainee into the April 23 $50,000 Sam Houston Juvenile Invitational.

Bred in Kansas by Michael Samples, the colt races for Pina-Garcia Ranch. Valiant Zoom is a $15,000 Heritage Place September Sale graduate.

Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner High Rate Of Return got his first winner on Sunday when First Rate Return posted a three-quarter length win in a $17,000 300 yard maiden race at Remington Park.

Owned-and-trained by Gerry McLean, the sorrel gelding earned $9,990 for the effort. Connie Nobles bred First Rate Return from the First Down Dash mare Tellin It All. McLean paid $15,000 for First Rate Return at the September Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

High Rate of Return is currently the #4 Leading First Crop Sire of Money Earners with $11,349.

Multiple Grade 1 finalist Big Daddy Cartel is yet to get his first winner, but from only four starters he ranks #2 on the Leading First Crop Sire of Money Earners with $13,371.

Among his starters are Famous Big Daddy who finished with the 11th fastest time from 114 head who participated 15 trials for the Grade 3 $420,000 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park. Making his first start in the trials, the $42,000 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred sale graduate qualified to the $50,000 Oklahoma Juvenile Invitational.
