Pedigree Analysis BP Hit The Bigtime: Hitting It Out Of The Pedigree Park

Q-RACING JOURNAL—OCTOBER 7, 2015—If you’re looking to hit the big time, the $55,360 James Isaac Hobbs Stakes (G2) at Zia Park is a good place to start.

At least that seems to be the path BP Hit The Bigtime is following, as he romped home ahead of a solid field of horses to notch his first stakes victory. The $winner's share boosted his bankroll to $113,648.

Today we’re going to take a look at BP Hit The Bigtime’s pedigree, but I want to also give a quick nod to Mr Jo Eagle, a homebred One Famous Eagle gelding racing for Dan Nicks of Devine, Texas. The horse notched his first stakes win on Friday, winning the $20,000 Grand Prairie Stakes (R) at Lone Star Park and pushing his career earnings to $113,803.

The 4-year-old’s dam is the First Place Dash mare First Place Diamond, who was bred by AQHA Past President Jerry Windham. The mare is a daughter of The Jubilee Diamond, giving this fruitful damline yet another black type winner. First Place Diamond is also the dam of stakes winner Diamond For Jess (by Feature Mr Jess, $270,321) and stakes-placed runner John The Banker (by Ivory James, $128,401). The Jubilee Diamond, herself a daughter of champion Denim N Diamonds, is a glittering jewel in the family I profiled last year.

BP Hit The Bigtime was bred by BP himself, Bill Price of Thackerville, Oklahoma, on both sides of his pedigree. The horse is by Cartel Success and out of the Heza Fast Man mare JA Fast Lady.
