Pedigree Analysis First Valiant Sign: This Family Is Already Having Quite A Year

Q-RACING JOURNAL—JUNE 8, 2015— The Mixer family of Edmond, Oklahoma, has quite a mare on their hands.

In a matter of eight days, their 7-year-old First Painted Sign notched a Grade 1 futurity runner-up and a Grade 1 futurity winner from the two foals she produced in 2013. They include $1,170,000 Heritage Place Futurity (G1) second-place finisher A Tres Of Paint (by Tres Seis, $233,676) and yesterday’s $750,000 Ruidoso Futurity (G1) winner First Valiant Sign (by Valiant Hero, $315,880). And let’s not forget to throw in her other starter to date, the 2012 gelding Apollitical Sign, who in March qualified to the West Texas Derby (G3).

This is quite a coup for the mare, whose family has been racking up the accomplishments in recent years. READ MORE
