Leading Sire One Famous Eagle Recovering Following Abdominal Surgery

GUTHRIE, TX—MARCH 25, 2015—On Friday, March 20, leading sire One Famous Eagle suffered an acute abdominal crisis and upon immediate assessment he was referred to Brock Veterinary Hospital/Clinic in Lamesa, Texas, where he had exploratory abdominal surgery.

The surgery was performed by Drs. Bo Brock and Peter Rakestraw. They found problems associated with the 10-year-old stallion’s small intestine and subsequently removed required six feet of it. One Famous Eagle recovered nicely from anesthesia and currently is in intensive care. Today (Mar 25) he was in serious-but-stable condition with signs of slight improvement each day.

Bred by Johnny Trotter, One Famous Eagle was raced in the partnership of Johnny Trotter and the Burnett Ranches, LLC. The $1,387,453 earner was named Champion Three-Year-Old Colt of 2008. He was the all-time leading freshman sire with that first crop that included World Champion One Dashing Eagle.

Now the sire of winners of nearly $9.9 million, the syndicated One Famous Eagle stands at the 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas, under the management of Dr. Glenn Blodgett.
