First Foal By Grade 3 Winner Van Zant Arrives

ALEX, OK—MARCH 17, 2015—The first reported foal sired by Grade 3 stakes winner Van Zant SI 109 arrived March 10. The colt, out of the Eye Soar mare Eyem No Lady, is owned by Winter Creek Farms near Alex, Oklahoma.

Owned and raced by Harvey Baeza of Odessa, Texas, Van Zant won or placed in 15 races, earning $133,950. He won the RG3 Manuel Lujan Stakes, Animas Stakes, was second in the Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational and third in the All American Gold Cup(G2), Mr Jet More Handicap(G3) and All American Juvenile Invitational. He was also a finalist to the Grade 3 Sunland Park Winter Derby.

He is a son of champion/champion sire Hawkinson, the sire of 67 stakes horses with earnings in excess of $10.5 million. His top performers include two-time champion Strawkins SI 108 ($614,156), G1 winner Sixish SI 114 ($530,505), G3 winner Sparky E Boy SI 111 ($352,224), Grade 1 winner Starlet Hawk SI 110 ($250,714), Grade 3 winner Bf Farm Boy SI 106 (10 wins to 6, 2014, $236,255), etc.

Van Zant is out of the G1 Rainbow Futurity finalist Pretty Jet High, by On A High, who is the dam of 14 ROM including stakes winner Van Zant SI 109, stakes-placed Ought To Be Higher SI 104 ($65,717), stakes-placed G1 finalist Loved Her First SI 92 ($36,502) and stakes-placed The Palm SI 91 ($11,787). She is the granddam of RG3 winner Chicks A Dashin SI 116 ($168,791), RG3-placed Iseeyoustaring SI 95 ($90,717), etc.

The second dam is a G1 stakes-placed daughter of leading broodmare sire Easy Jet and a sister to AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Megahertz SI 103 ($160,773), stakes winner Pedigree Perfect SI 108, stakes-placed Cavi Tron SI 99 ($75,292) and half-sister to stakes winner Mr Top Tex SI 105 ($29,154), etc. This is the family of Grade 3 winner Omnii Plex SI 105 ($68,194) stakes-placed Cashing In On Cash SI 111 ($59,850), etc.
