Superlativ runs away from her competition to easily win her allowance race on Sunday at Remington Park with jockey Angel Ramirez.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 19, 2023—When Superlativ breaks from the gate like lightning, she has proven to be difficult to beat. The 3-year-old filly has won two-of-three races when she has burst from the gate as she did Sunday in winning an allowance race at Remington Park.

Trainer Ed Hardy sent this daughter of Apollitical Jess, out of the Jet Black Patriot mare Telarosa, to the track as a 2-year-old to race in the Heritage Place Futurity trials at Remington Park last year.

That was the only race of three when she was first out that she didn’t win. Still, she hung on for third in that trial and only lost the race by a head in a three-horse photo.

Since then she broke on top in a maiden race at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Ia., in a race Sept. 5, 2022, and got the first win of her career by a full length. It also was the first time jockey Angel Ramirez had gotten aboard her.

He was also in the saddle at Remington Park for the second win of her career Sunday. It was a most impressive victory again, finishing 2-1/4 lengths in front of nine other 3-year-old fillies. Running time for her 350-yard victory was :17.671 over a fast track for a speed index of 89. The time of runner-up Miss KT Perry produced a mere 78 speed index.

Miss Kt Perry checked in second, a head in front of third-place finisher Where Theres Sumoke.

Superlative was primed and ready to fire when that gates opened and her backers were prepared, betting her down from her 8-1 morning line odds to the 5-2 second favorite. She paid $7.60 to win, $4.60 to place and $3.60 to show.

Her owner, Xcel Partners 22 of Asher, Okla., earned $11,955 from the $24,500 purse as their swift filly improved her career marks to seven starts, two wins and three thirds for a bankroll of $25,797. She was bred Texas by Bobby Cox.

The 2023 Remington Park American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season continues next week with Thursday-Sunday, March 23-26. The $533,270 Oklahoma Futurity headlines a stellar program on Saturday, March 25. The first post time is 6 p.m. nightly with the exception of Sundays when first post is 4 p.m.
