Blitz Chick, ridden by Benjamin Lopez, won the All Breed 89 Speed Index & Under Stakes (not black type) at Oneida County Fair Sunday afternoon.

MALAD CITY, ID–AUGUST 14, 2022–Blitz Chick made a late surge for the win in the $5,800 All Breed 89 Speed Index and Under Stakes (not black type) Sunday afternoon at Oneida County Fair. Blitz Chick, Clocked N Load and Koyote Kyle dueled it out for the wire in the 300 yard stakes race.

Ridden by Benjamin Lopez, Blitz Chick broke from hole seven in second place but prevailed late in the game for a nose victory over Glocked N Loaded. The post-time favorite clocked a 92 speed index in :15.574 seconds and paid $5.60 for his winning effort.

This is the first win of the season for Blitz Chick, who is trained by Ricardo Mariles-Santos, upping his career earnings to $10,950.

Bred by Garlyn O. Shelton of Texas, Blitz Chick sold to her current owner Ricardo Mariles for $10,500 in the 2020 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The 3-year-old son of Stoli is out of Jeanifer Chick by Chicks Beduino.

Runner-up Glocked N Loaded, guided by Oscar Villa, made a valiant effort for the wire placing second by a nose and defeated Koyote Kyle (ApHC) by a neck in :15.575 seconds. 

Glocked N Loaded is owned and trained by Ricardo Castillo. Bred by Larry and Joyce Mower, the 3-year-old filly is out of Sheza Signature by Vital Sign. 

Trained by Monte Bird, Koyote Kyle with Todd Thomas in the irons, was game for third. Bred and owned by Miriam Bird, the 3-year-old son of Midnight Corona is out of Camptownhigh by Dispensing Speed.

The remaining order of finish is Cbf Cash Man, Shesahardcache, Er L Milagro and Bg Wired N Sixxy. Leave It To Corona was scratched by trainer.
