Dash For Five T Gets Up At Wire In Ocean Wave Futurity Win

TILLAMOOK, OR–AUGUST 12, 2022–Dash For Five T bounced off a troubled seventh place effort in the Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge trials on Sunday (Aug. 7) to break his maiden in the $7,150 Ocean Wave Futurity (not black type) at Tillamook County Fair today.

Under jockey Erick Garcia Dash For Five T got up at the wire as the post time favorite to defeat Fancy Lyke. The son of multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel completed the 220 yards in :11.449 seconds, a 96 speed index.

Trainer Freddy Ibarra saddled the Oregon homebred to his first career win in seven starts for owner-breeder Jose Luis Torres.  Bred from the Strawfly Special mare Dash Home Deb, Dash For Five T picked up $3,379 to increase his earnings to $15,679.

The bay gelding was third in the Crush The Curve Futurity and a finalist in the Firecracker Futurity earlier this year.

Runner-up Fancy Lyke just missed for owner Hayden Brothers Ranch and trainer Hector Magallanes. Santiago Jimenez rode the daughter of multiple stakes sire Dominyun from the First Down Dash mare Sizzling Lola.  Bobby D. Cox bred the filly in Texas. Fancy Lyke earned $1,590 to increase her earnings to $5,310.

Glow N Eagle finished half-a-length back to earn $1,233 for third. Trainer Benito Curiel named jockey Jose Guerrero to ride the daughter of world champion One Dashing Eagle for owner-breeder Malon Cowgill. The sorrel filly was bred in Washington state from the Shazoom mare Afterglow.

Grover completed the field. Eyem Jess Fabulous was scratched.
