Jess Emotions Breaks Maiden In $50,000 Mountain Top QH Juvenile at Ruidoso Downs Sunday

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–JUNE 19, 2022–The very seasoned stakes horse Jess Emotions got her first win on Sunday when she defeated Nine Walks by one-length in the $50,000 Mountain Top QH Juvenile at Ruidoso Downs Race Track.

The daughter of multiple stakes sire Jess A Chicks was third in the New Mexico Breeders Futurity(RG3) and a finalist in the New Mexico Spring Fling Stakes this season but entered the Mountain Top without breaking her maiden in five previous starts.

Under jockey Sergio Dominguez the bay filly drew clear of the field on Sunday while stopping the clock in :17.602 seconds, a 91 speed index, into a 7 mph crosswind, for 350 yards. 

The $10,500 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale graduate has compiled a (6) 1-2-1 record and today's $21,000 winner's purse boosted her earnings total to $35,317.

Trainer David Gomez-Barraza conditions Jess Emotions for owner Gustavo Cadena Jr.  Bred by Mike Abraham, she is out of the Corona Cartel mare The Blues Girl.

Runner-up Nine Walks earned $9,000 for her second-place effort. Casey Lambert trains the son of leading New Mexico sire Big Daddy Cartel for owner Jay Glover and Gary Stallings.

MJ Farms bred Nine Walks from the Jesse James Jr mare Ella Sophia. He has banked $12,600 in two starts and was ridden by Francisco Calderon.

Doing Something Good, another MJ Farms bred runner, finished half-a-length back to pick up $5,000 for third. J and SM, Inc. paid $110,000 for the Big Daddy Cartel gelding in last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. Trainer Fred Danley named champion jockey Ricky Ramirez to ride.

Out of the Pappasito mare Start Something Bad, Doing Something Good has banked $15,075 in four starts.  He was a finalist in the New Mexican Spring Futurity(RG2) at Sunland Park in April.

Jm Jazzlynn, Drinking Champane, Ima Alertly, The Panther King, Cq Featured First, Flashy Babe and Sun Harvest completed the field. Jesses Wish was scratched.
