Multiple Grade 1 Winners Pattys Saint, Kiss Thru Fire Headline Las Damas On Saturday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—NOVEMBER 17, 2022–Multiple Grade 1 winners Pattys Saint and Kiss Thru Fire plus young star Nymphette will headline a superb cast of fillies and mares in the $75,000 Grade 2 Las Damas Handicap at 400 yards on Saturday night at Los Alamitos.

Pattys Saint, Nymphette, and Kiss Thru Fire first met in the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap on September 18 with the Idaho invader Pattys Saint finishing ahead of Nymphette in the 400-yard dash.

The rematch is now set with Pattys Saint looking to fend off a talented cast once again in the Las Damas.

With her victory in the Mildred Vessels, Robert Harrison’s Pattys Saints earned a berth to the Grade 1, $750,000 Champion of Champions, which looks to be one of the best in the history of Quarter Horse racing. The Las Damas will serve as Pattys Saint final prep for the prestigious Champion of Champions.

Bred by her owner, Pattys Saint has been outstanding this season, winning four of five starts to go along with her berth to the 50th running of the Champions of Champion.

In her career, the Heath Hillman-trainee has won 13 of 18 starts including a score in last year’s (G1) AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship. Jesus Virgen will ride the Jess Got Easier mare.

Over the last two years, Gentry Farms’ Kiss Thru Fire has been the nation’s top mare. A career winner of $666,775, Kiss Thru Fire won this year’s Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap and the Abigail Kawananakoa Stakes.

She’ll make another strong case for the champion mare title if she can win the Las Damas while avenging her loss Millie Vessels loss. Ed Allred’s Nymphette has proven to be a late threat in all her races and figures to be the late flyer once again.

The Las Damas will also feature 2021 Millie Vessels winner Reason To Fly Mv, College Scandal, Famous Shining Star, In My Heart, Letty Cartel, Go To Girl, and Mperativ.
